Roy Kinnear

Roy Mitchell Kinnear ( born January 8, 1934 in Wigan, United Kingdom, † September 20, 1988 in Madrid, Spain) was a British actor.

Life and work

Kinnear attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, he later became a valued member of Joan Littlewood's Theatre Workshop Ensemble. He became better known in 1962 by his appearance in the satirical TV show That Was the Week did what the BBC. From then on, he worked in more than 120 television movies, series and feature films.

Because of his character - Kinnear was overweight even as a boy and became even fuller in later years - he was set to the comedic part. He was one of the favorite actors of Richard Lester and played since the Beatles film Help! with great success in almost all productions with the director.

Kinnear was killed in 1988 during filming of the movie The Return of the Musketeers: During a fall from a horse, he retired to a broken pelvis and died in a hospital in Madrid a day later from heart failure.

Director and friend Richard Lester finished as a direct result of this accident, his film career. Six years later, Roy Kinnear Foundation was launched in honorable remembrance. This maintains a home in the English Twickenham, where a home was created for severely disabled young people.

He left behind three children. His son Rory Kinnear (born 1978 ) is also an actor.
