Order of classes

The Order had three classes and the number of the respective members was limited

Order decoration

The religious character is a white enamelled eight-pointed cross of St. John with golden edging. In the cross angles golden rays are inserted and above all, the crown of Hawaii in gold. A central shield is placed on the cross. The front is enamelled white, showing the golden K for the King name. The central shield is surrounded by a two-sided gold edged frost. The collar itself is made of blue enamel and has front the golden inscription Kamehameha I. The reverse shows the same design Hookanaka E ( Be a man ) as a religious motto.

Ribbon and carrying method

The ribbon was adapted to the class. For the Grand Cross, it is red with narrow white side stripes. For the II and III. Class, it is striped in red four times and three times white. Knights wore the medal on the ribbon on the left chest. The Great Cruiser contributed an additional Order star, which resembled the great decoration except for the missing crown.
