RTÉ Two

RTÉ Two ( 1988-2004 also known as Network 2, RTÉ Network Two or N2) is the second television program of the Irish public service broadcaster RTÉ. The transmitter is via DVB- T across the country receivable, as well as on Sky digital via satellite.

Program

The transmitter emits mainly of programs for children, adolescents and young adults. Sometimes, sports content and movies are sent. From 06:00 clock bis 17:30 clock a children's program, RTÉ jr ( For young children and babies) and TRTÉ is called ( for teens ), sent, thus takes up most of the airtime. RTÉ News on Two is an important news program that is broadcast on weekdays at 22:45.

On RTÉ Two also known Australian shows like neighbors ( Neighbours ) and Home and Away are weekdays sent.

History

RTÉ Two ( I)

It was in the 1970s a lot of debate about whether the then planned second Irish television by the BBC or RTÉ should be produced, we chose the latter. The station was launched on 2 November 1978 as RTÉ Two. He was celebrated with a grand opening gala in Cork. At the beginning was sent only in the evening and many broadcasts of the BBC and ITV have been taken. The sender was thus not particularly successful.

Network 2

The program was established in 1988 renamed Network 2, and he got a more contemporary logo. The broadcast schedule was brought forward to 14:30 clock. Even then, children's programs were sent in the afternoon. Saturday afternoon sports broadcasts and broadcasts were transmitted in Gaelic in the first place. Also were added late news. The reboot was a success and was called the station mid-1990s in RTÉ Network Two to. N2

RTÉ Two ( II)

2003 N2 was then renamed RTÉ Two in order to make the membership of the RTÉ attention and to ensure a uniform appearance together with RTÉ One. Since then, the proportion of Irish productions rises in the program.
