Ruairí Robinson

Ruairí Robinson ( * February 15, 1978 in Dublin) is an Irish animator and film director.

Life

Robinson studied from 1996 to 2000 Graphic Design at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin. As a final thesis in the field of visual communication, the short film The House on Dane Street was born. Robinson began then to work on his first 3D animated film Fifty Percent Grey, who was finished after six months and was released in 2001. Robinson acted as director, screenwriter and animator. The film won the 2002 Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Short Film. As part of the U.S. series The Animation Show, the film also appeared on DVD.

Robinson initially remained in the 3D animation and spent the next years in the film and advertising zone is active, he was involved among other things as a 3D animator in the film Breakfast on Pluto and created a partially animated commercial for Kellogg 's Special K. With The Silent City created until 2006 Robinsons first short film, in which, among other things Cillian Murphy starred. After his second short film BlinkyTM from 2011 Robinson realized in 2013 finally his first feature film: The sci-fi thriller The Last Days on Mars was 2013 shown inter alia in the Directors' Fortnight at the International Film Festival in Cannes.
