Rube Bjorkman

Career

Rube Bjorkman attended the University of Minnesota, for their hockey team he played in parallel. Later, he was long active as a hockey coach in college sports. In the season 1963/64, he was responsible for the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute of ECAC Hockey. From 1965 to 1969 he was head coach of the University of New Hampshire, who also took part in the operation of the game ECAC Hockey. Most recently, he oversaw from 1970 to 1978, the University of North Dakota from the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.

Internationally

For the U.S., Bjorkman participated in the Winter Olympics 1948 in St. Moritz and in Oslo in 1952. At the Winter Games in 1948, the U.S. was disqualified because of unauthorized use of professional players, at the Winter Games in 1952 he won with his team the silver medal. In addition, he was in his country's squad at the World Championships in 1955.
