Rubidium is the rubidium salt of nitric acid.
Properties
Rubidium forms at room temperature colorless, highly hygroscopic trigonal crystals and is soluble in water. The refractive index of the crystals is nD = 1.524.
It has a red-violet flame coloration. It is a powerful oxidizing agent and is decomposed upon heating to Rubidiumnitrit and oxygen:
If you treat rubidium nitrate with nitric acid, the acid nitrates RbH ( NO3) 2 form (melting point 62 ° C) and RbH2 (NO3 ) 3 ( melting point 39-46 ° C).

Rubidium nitrate can be prepared by salt-forming reaction with nitric acid in rubidium hydroxide or rubidium from elemental:
Use
Rubidium nitrate is used as a component of the infrared- emitting light sources, along with other alkali metal nitrate as the oxidant.
