Oregon Raspberry (Rubus leucodermis )

The Oregon Raspberry (Rubus leucodermis ), also Weißrindige raspberry called, is a species of the genus Rubus of the subgenus Idaeobatus.

Description

The Oregon Raspberry reaches a height of up to 2.5 meters. The shoots of the plant have a silver-white bark. Shoots and leaves are covered with hooked spines. The white flowering plant forms from May (Mexico) and July (Canada) of the individual stems outgoing their panicle inflorescences from. Each flower has five sepals and petals, and about twenty carpels and leaves. The bottom of the flower is strongly bulged. Hence develop the dark blue to black, savory fruit collection.

Dissemination

The plant is native to western North America; their range extends into British Columbia in Canada south to California and a little further to Mexico, to the east extends the distribution area to Montana, Utah and Nevada. In Europe, the Oregon Raspberry is occasionally offered for gardens.

Use

Like other Rubus species also contains the Oregon Raspberry and ellagic acid has a high content of anthocyanins. The edible fruits are known except for food among some tribes of North American indigenous peoples as a remedy for diarrhea, flu and cuts.
