Rudolf Gleißner

Rudolf Gleissner ( born March 17, 1942 in Nuremberg, Germany) is a German cellist.

He studied cello with André Navarra, Enrico Mainardi and Pablo Casals. His musical thinking is strongly influenced by the collaboration with Sergiu Celibidache.

Gleißner began in 1968 as principal cellist of the Radio Symphony Orchestra Berlin and was then 1970-2007 principal cellist of the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra.

Since 1970 he plays in the Chamber Music Ensemble Stuttgart Soloists, its founders it counts. Since 1978 he has been a professor of cello at the University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart.
