Rudolf Stahlecker

Rudolf Eugen Stahlecker ( born November 25, 1898 in Star rock near Pforzheim, † October 26, 1977 Urach ) was a German teacher, geologist and vertebrate paleontologist.

Life

He studied at the German paleontologist Friedrich von Huene - Baltic at the University of Tübingen. He took in 1928 and 1929 expeditions in the Geopark of Paleorrota in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, in part, to collect fossils there. He also collected fossils in Argentina.

In his honor, Stahleckeria potens received its name. This Dicynodont was excavated at São Pedro do Sul in the paleontological site Chiniquá.

After receiving his doctorate Stahlecker was not a scientist, but biology teacher at a high school in Stuttgart. " The leader will teach the people to think biologically again, we scientists have here his first employees ," he used as his motto. After the denazification he had to pause a few years as a teacher, even though he is not as intense as a biology teacher involved in National Socialism as his younger brother, the SS brigade leader and commander of the " Einsatzgruppe A " Walter Stahlecker.
