Rudolph von Langen

Rudolf von Langen ( * 1438 in Evers angle, † December 25, 1519 in Münster ) was a cathedral canons in Münster and early humanist.

His name is sometimes written Rolef van Langhe or Rodolphus Langius.

Life

Long was the son of Dietrich von Langen to Evers angle and his wife Sophia. He attended the University of Erfurt, where she earned the Master of Arts ( 1460 ) and then went to the University of Basel. In 1462 he was sworn in as provost of the Old Cathedral in Münster, but should he have been as early as 1455 in Münster cathedral canons. In 1466 he visited Rome. During the siege of Neuss in the years 1474 and 1475, he accompanied his bishop Heinrich XXVII. of Schwarzburg. Important was his reform of the cathedral school, was then reacted for a first attempt around 1485 to 1500 with the help of teachers like John Murmellius.
