Rudy Markussen

Rudy Markussen ( born July 24, 1977 in Copenhagen, Denmark ) is a Danish professional boxer and former European champion EBU Super Middleweight.

As an amateur boxer, he won 34 of 38 fights.

Markussen 1997 at the age of 20 years professional. After 27 victorious battles, he finally received on 16 November 2002, the chance to fight against Sven Ottke ( 28-0 ) for the IBF world title at super middleweight. However Markussen lost the fight on points. But already in his next fight in October 2003, he won by KO in the second round against James Crawford ( 38-5 ) the Intercontinental Championship title WBO super middleweight. Almost five months later, he pushed against the North American champion Kabary Salem ( 23-2 ); the fight ended wertungslos after Markussen was injured in the first round by an accidental head butt and could not continue fighting.

On July 24, 2004, he won by unanimous points victory against the Germans Danilo Haussler and thus became the new European champion at super middleweight. On 17 June 2005, he won by whacked in the first round against former world champion Hacine Cherifi.

On 14 October 2006 he suffered his first defeat premature; he lost by whacked in round seven against the Russian champion Sergei Tatewosjan, but then won four consecutive fights by KO and received so another chance at a world title. On 18 February 2012, he boxed against the Briton Brian Magee ( 35-4-1 ) to the World Cup interime the WBA, but this was defeated by KO in the fifth round.
