Rudy Powell

Rudy Powell, who later called Musheed Karweem ( born October 28, 1907 in New York City; † October 30, 1976 ibid ) was an American jazz musician (alto saxophone and clarinet) of traditional jazz and swing.

Powell only studied piano and violin, before moving to clarinet and saxophone. In 1928 he played with Gene Rodger 's Revellers, and then until 1931 in Cliff Jackson's Krazy Kats. In 1933 he played with Rex Stewart and 1934 to 1937 he was with Fats Waller. He also worked in the bands of Claude Hopkins (1938 /39), Andy Kirk (1940 /41), Fletcher Henderson (1941 /42), Don Redman (1943 ), Teddy Wilson, Edgar Hayes, Cab Calloway ( 1945-1948 ), the Kansas City Seven by Jimmy Rushing and Lucky Millinder ( 1949-1951 ); Billie Holiday and the Buster Harding Orchestra (1949 ) and in the Al Sears Jazz ( 1953). End of the 50 big-band recordings were with Jimmy Rushing 's Big Brass. He was active until the 1970s, for example, 1961/62 with Ray Charles and from 1965 to 1969 with the Saints and Sinners of Vic Dickenson and Red Richards.
