Trad jazz

, Also called Traditional Jazz Trad Jazz, is considered a style of jazz, which until the 1950s prevailed in the early 1940s, especially in Anglo-American countries such as the UK or Australia and still has many followers. The Traditional Jazz is a musical adaptation of the Old Style / New Orleans jazz and Dixieland. British and Australian musicians and bands copied the style of their models, such as Sidney Bechet, Bix Beiderbecke, Muggsy Spanier or King Oliver.

It is debatable whether the term " Trad Jazz" as a musical term for purists of traditional jazz per se is valid because in the musical practice of bands like Chris Barber and Lonnie Donegan mixed also elements of the local European music styles with the original African-American jazz elements, such as eg folk or the Skifflemusik. To some extent, especially in the band of Alex Welsh, also observed a permeability to modern jazz.

During the 1950s and early 1960s Traditional Jazz was preferred danced to Skip Jive or Swing dance elements. Most followers of Trad Jazz preferred (ed) this more of a "traditional" instrumentation, the most classic New Orleans based jazz and usually ends with a solo at the end of the piece. International rather the Modern ultimately, however, can claim jazz, which have record labels such as Blue Note prescribed.
