Rui Barbosa

Ruy Barbosa de Oliveira ( born November 5, 1849 in Salvador da Bahia, † March 1, 1923 in Petrópolis, Rio de Janeiro) was a Brazilian writer, jurist, and politician.

Life

Ruy Barbosa, even in the case Rui Barbosa, was as a politician Bundesabgeordeter, diplomat, Senator, and later Minister of Finance in Brazil. He supported monetary policy concepts such as the Fiat Money in contrast to the gold standard for Brazil. During his tenure as Minister of Finance of Brazil he carried out far-reaching reforms of the financial system in Brazil and put an extremely expansionary monetary policy in force.
