Rum ball

The Rumkugel (in some regions known as punch ball or truffles ) is a pastry specialty, which is attributable to the confection. It consists mainly of fat, sugar, almonds or nuts, cocoa and chocolate. The surface is completely covered by chocolate chips. As the name says, rum balls are made with rum, but often only rum flavoring is used. The Rumkugel is usually slightly larger than a marzipan potato.

In northern Germany can be found at larger pastry rum balls, which have a more doughy consistency. They are made of pastries, thus more closely related to shrapnel, and less fat and sugar.

In Sweden, is used instead of Rum ( flavoring ) arrack ( aroma ), the ball is, accordingly arraksboll.
