Runan, Côtes-d'Armor
Runan is a commune of 248 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the region of Brittany in the département of Côtes- d'Armor.
History
- Originally the territory of Runan was a place of pagan worship in honor of the god Belenus.
- The territory was finally transferred to the Knights Templar.
- 1312 Runan was taken over by the Knights of St. John, and was connected to the Commandery of Palacret from there.
- The monks of Palacret built in the 14th and 15th century, the present church of Notre-Dame and operated here a hospital and leper-house.
- Runan was only on 1 September 1986 as a separate parish.
