Ruoska

Ruoska (Eng. whip ) is a Finnish metal band. It was founded by the five current members of the band still in Mikkeli and Juva 1999. The style is strongly reminiscent of the German band Rammstein and Oomph!, But the musicians sing their lyrics in Finnish.

Band History

After a few demonstrations to start their music career Ruoska brought three years after its foundation in 2002 under the label Kråklund Records her first album, Kuori (German cup), of the two songs ( Epilogi, dt " Epilogue " and Kiroan, ger " I curse " ) even with a video clip arrived in the Finnish television. Being single this song, however, did not appear; this was the song Aurinko egg Nouse ( "The sun does not trigger" ) subject, which in turn was not available as a video clip.

Just one year later, in 2003, published under the same label Ruoskas second album, Riisu ( " off "). On this record, a song was titled Darmstadt, which was based on a dream of one of the guitarists, according to singer Patrik Mennander, who served for a long time even with the power metal band Battlelore as a second voice: Our guitarist, Kai Ahvenranta [ ... ] had a dream: he saw a road sign " Darmstadt - Road To Heaven", and had no idea why. So we wrote the song, went into the studio and made the shots. Darmstadt was released as a single song on this disk as a single; a video for this item but did not appear.

Only in 2005 then succeeded with Tuonen Viemää ( " Demanded by the Beyond "), which can be found on Ruoskas third album Radium ( after the chemical element radium ), the national breakthrough. With this and the other songs Irti ( Los! ) and Käärmenpesä ( snake pit ) landed the first Finnish band in the charts, which swelled the fanbase strong. With the album changed especially the style: the sound was more melodic than ever before ( with the exception of appearing on the album Riisu Piruparka, such as "Poor Devil " ), and the singing was less vigorous than on the previous albums.

In 2006, the band decided from their previous label to the more widely known label EMI Finland to change and published on his fourth album Amortem, from the Mies Yli Laidan (man overboard ), Pure Minua ( bite me) and Alasin ( anvil ) were released as singles. The songs were placed in each of the charts and were equipped with the exception of Pure Minua with a video clip.

On 9 April 2008 the fifth studio album called Rabies appeared, again under the label EMI. Contrary to speculation, the album could first included non- Finnish-language texts, since the name of the album is English and means something like rabies, the Finnish-language single Pirunkieli was this album in December 2007 on the official MySpace page of the band (Eng. " The devil's language" ) published. The remaining nine songs on the album lined up seamlessly.

Parallels to Rammstein

"We like Rammstein ," said frontman Patrik Mennander in an interview. The parallels to successful new - German hardness band are not random or arbitrary. " [ ... ] We have some Rammstein songs translated into Finnish. There lies a certain resemblance to our inside, a kind of brutality [ sic] in the texts. "
