Rupert II of Lubin

Ruprecht II of Lubin ( Rupert II of Lüben; * 1392 in Haynau; † August 24, 1431 ) was from 1420 to 1431 Duke of Lubin and Haynau. From 1423 he held the office of Grand Prior of the Order of Malta. He came from the family of the Silesian Piast dynasty.

Life

Ruprecht was the eldest son of Duke Henry IX. († 1417/20 ) and Anna († 1403 ), daughter of the Duke of Teschen Przemislaus I.

After the death of his father 1419/20 Ruprecht II inherited the territories of Lubin and Haynau, while the areas Ohlau and Nimptsch Ruprechts younger brothers Wenceslas III. and Ludwig III. obeyed. For the year 1423 Ludwig is occupied as the Maltese Grand Prior of Bohemia and Austria, and Poland.

Ruprecht II died in 1431 unmarried and without issue. His legacy was the youngest brother of Louis III. Since the middle brother Wenceslas III. already in 1423 had died, were among the surviving Ludwig III. now Ohlau, Nimptsch, Lubin and Haynau.

Already in 1420 joined Ruprecht and his brothers Wenzel and Louis with the Liegnitzer Duke Ludwig II, who was a half-brother of her father, a contract of inheritance, which they reaffirmed in 1424 by mutual Eventualhuldigungen.
