Rupert Moser

Rupert Moser ( born June 2, 1944 in Horn, Canton of Thurgau ) is Emeritus Associate Professor of Social Anthropology and African Studies at the University of Bern. He conducted research in the patrilineal Ngoni and the matrilineal Mwera (see Ngindo ) by in southern Tanzania. Another project dealt with the Swahili origins, migrations, and religious movements.

Life

Moser began in 1963 the study of ethnology, social anthropology and African studies. In 1971 he received his doctorate to Dr. phil. and was chosen for Ethnology at the University of Bern to the assistant at the Institute. At this time he also took courses. In 1975 he was elected to senior assistant and transitional responsible for the summer semester 1975, and for the winter semester 1975/1976 with the leadership of the Institute of Ethnology. 1976 and 1977 had Moser a guest lecturer at the Faculté des Lettres at the University of Fribourg. From 1978 Moser published " Genève - Afrique, Africa Journal of Swiss Society " ( Vol 16 to Vol 21) out.

In January 1981 his habilitation procedure started at the Faculty of the University of Bern philosophical- historical. On December 21, 1981 Rupert Moser received by the Department of Education of the Canton of Bern, the instructor rating as a high school teacher of anthropology, social anthropology and African studies. In 1983, he held back to field studies in Tanzania and Kenya, before he perceived a C4 Visiting Professor at the Department of Anthropology and African Studies at the University of Mainz in winter semester 1983/1984 and summer semester 1984. Then he spent the summer of 1984 to the summer of 1986 as part of a research project headed by him again in Tanzania. From the winter semester 1986/1987 to winter semester 1991/1992 he took teaching positions at the Universities of Bern and Zurich and conducted a variety of research projects and projects.

In the summer semester 1992, a Visiting Professor at the Institute of Ethnology followed by the University of Tübingen. In dauffolgenden winter semester Moser coordinated the project " migrations from the Third World: Causes, effects, actions, " the University of Bern. In 1993, Rupert Moser Secretary General of the Collegium generale the University of Bern. In October 1995 he was appointed as Adjunct Professor, Associate Professor in February 2008 and in June 2009 Associate Professor Emeritus of the University of Bern.

He still travels to field visits to East Africa and also organizes courses continue over East Africa and Kiswahili language courses.
