Russel L. Honoré
Russel L. Honoré ( * 1947 in Lakeland, Louisiana) is Lieutenant General of the U.S. Army retired and worked from 2004 until his retirement in 2008 the Commanding General of the U.S. 1st Army at Fort Gillem, Georgia.
Life
He is partially African-American ethnicity. Honoré was given responsibility for military assistance in disaster relief after Hurricane Katrina in the southern states of Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana. There he was praised among others by the mayor of New Orleans, Ray Nagin, for its direct use.
Before this deployment, he held command posts within the United States as well as Germany, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia and Korea, including 2000 to 2002, in command of the 2nd Infantry Division.
