Russian State Library

The Russian State Library (Russian: Российская государственная библиотека, translit. Rossiyskaya Gosudarstvennaja biblioteka, former Lenin Library ) in Moscow is next to the Russian National Library in St. Petersburg, the second National Library of the Russian Federation. She is one of the largest libraries in the world.

History

The library was founded as Moscow's first toll- free and public library named library of the Public Museum of Moscow and Rumyantsev Museum or short Rumyantsev Library Pashkov House ( Дом Пашкова ) on 1 July 1862. In 1925, she became the National Library of the USSR and was from 1925 to 1945 simply Lenin Library. The library received a new building from the early 1930s until about 1960 on a neighboring property.
