Ruth Shady

Ruth Martha Shady Solís (born 29 December 1946 in Callao, Peru ) is a Peruvian anthropologist and Altamerikanistin. She is the initiator and director of the excavation project Caral, one of the oldest town-like settlements in the Americas, located in Peru, about 200 km north of Lima. The age of Caral and its culture has been dated by the radiocarbon method at 4600 years.
