Rutherford AVA

Rutherford AVA ( recognized since 1993) is an American Viticultural Area in the U.S. state of California and is part of the regional Napa Valley AVA. The vineyards are concentrated on an area around the town of Rutherford. The recognized on 2 July 1993 wine-growing region is internationally known especially for the red wines from the Cabernet Sauvignon. The soil is sandy loam with a high gravel content.

The only 2,700 acre area is home to the world famous wineries Beaulieu Vineyards and Inglenook Winery.
