Rütli (literary group)

The Riitli, also the Riitli, Rytly and Rytli, was established on 9 December 1852 by members of the tunnel on the Spree: as " a kind of side tunnel " ( Fontane ). They wanted to escape the somewhat stiff ceremonial and especially the journalistic abstinence of the tunnel for more private meetings and met once a week at one of the members. A particular - against the tunnel additional - stimulus was that the wives ' allowed ' were; of course, only after the ' work ' in the second (non- literary- artistic) part and perhaps most notably also because was so worried for food and drink.

The members clearly distinguish between the "original Riitli Onen " and the " Later ". Initially, the founding date was officially thought of every December 9. But since this date is almost always went to the celebrations of the tunnel Foundation Festival on December 3, he was transferred unceremoniously on the 5th of February.

Here, too, were - like the tunnel meeting - invited guests: Berthold Auerbach, Friedrich von Bodenstedtstraße, Eduard Devrient, and more.

Until about 1897 there was the Riitli; on January 5, 1897 Fontane wrote to Lazarus: " ... that the Riitli asleep, is a blessing, and he was a mourning picture for years. "
