Ryan Fleck

Ryan K. Fleck ( born September 20, 1976 in Berkeley, California) is an American film director, screenwriter and producer. He became known for the movies Half Nelson and It's Kind of a Funny Story fame, which he produced together with Anna Boden.

Life

Ryan Fleck was born in Berkeley, California in 1976 and grew up there a few years until his family moved to Oakland. After he had completed his film studies at New York University Tisch School of the Arts, soil and stain began their first joint film project, Half Nelson, in the spring of 2002. Due to the lack of financial resources they shortened the script and together produced the short film Gowanus, Brooklyn. With her impressive film debut in 2004 won the young filmmakers at the Sundance festival the price of big jury. Before that both had been the short film Have You Seen This Man? and the documentary Young Rebels, which deals with the hip- hop community in Havana, realized.
