Ryo Noda

Ryō Noda (Japanese野 田 僚, Ryo Noda, born 1948 in Amagasaki, Hyōgo Prefecture) is a Japanese saxophonist and composer, who is also in the Western world has meaning.

Ryō Noda is famous for his virtuosity, his powerful avant-garde improvisations and innovative playing techniques. He is a leading interpreter of contemporary music of Japan, but also the traditional western music, such as baroque, classical and romantic.

1968 - 1972 studied at Noda Arata Sakaguchi at the " Musikhochschule in Osaka " ( Osaka ongaku daigaku ). After that, he was a student of Frederick L. Hemke at Northwestern University ( Illinois) and Jean -Marie Londeix at CNRM Bordeaux ( France). He was a soloist in festivals and concerts in France, Belgium, Holland, Sweden, Norway, England, Canada, USA and Japan. He was twice nominated for the Festival Prize Osaka City Art and won the 1986 Osaka Prefecture Gold Award, and the 1989 Grand Prix of the Yamaha Electone Festival. Noda's compositional work was honored in 1973 with the nomination for the SACEM Composition Prize. His compositions for wind instruments are a fusion of Japanese and Western art forms. Many of them are now an integral part of the standard repertoire of concert saxophonist.
