Ryszard Rumianek

Ryszard Rumianek ( born November 7, 1947 in Warsaw, Poland, † 10 April 2010 Smolensk, Russia) was a Polish, Roman Catholic priest, theologian and biblical scholar. He was from 2005 to 2010 Rector of the Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University -.

Life

Ryszard Rumianek studied 1966-1972 theology at the seminary in Warsaw and received priestly ordination in 1972 by Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski. At the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome from 1974 to 1977, he completed a postgraduate course in Biblical Studies. After a period of study at the Franciscan Biblical Studies in Jerusalem in 1979 he was at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome for Dr. theol. doctorate. From 1979 to 1982 he was prefect of the diocesan seminary in Warsaw until 1994 its vice - rector.

1995 Habilitation Rumianek at the Pontifical Theological Faculty of Warsaw ( Bobolanum ). He became assistant professor in 1996, was appointed associate professor in 1998. Rumianek was vice-rector since 2002 and since October 1, 2005 Rector of the Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University -. In 2009 he was awarded for his scientific work and teaching interests with the Order of Polonia Restituta, the second highest medal of the Polish Republic.

On April 10, 2010 Rumianek died in a plane crash near Smolensk in Russia. He was a member of a Polish delegation from the Polish president Lech Kaczyński.

Posthumously Rumianek was awarded on 16 April 2010 the Commander's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta ( Krzyż Komandorski Orderu Odrodzenia Polski ).
