Rzyki

Rzyki is a village located in powiat Wadowicki in Poland in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship. It lies about 7 km south-east of Wadowice, 12 km south-west of Wadowice at the foot of the mountain Leskowiec ( 922m above sea level. NN ) in the "small Beskydy " in the midst of several national parks.

History

The first mention of the town dates back to the 1560. The first inhabitants are the ethnic group of geldings attributed, which are believed to have immigrated from Romania. In historical times, the inhabitants verdingten with the production of wood shingles. In the 18th century weaving and glassmaking were added.

Attractions

Worth seeing are the built circa 1800 wooden parish church of St. Jakuba and a more than man-high statue of John Paul II

Tourism

Rzyki lives to a large extent on tourism. A nature reserve ( Rezerwat przyrody Madohora ) and the Little Beskids give off a delightful environment. Many apartments are available. It is popular with mountain bikers, which, in addition to wild ways, a special five-kilometer runway is available. Otherwise, a further 400 km of cycle paths in the area provide for enough space.
