Saalach Valley Ridgeway

The Saalachtaler trail is about a five-hour high-altitude hike in Salzburg part of the Kitzbühel Alps between Leogang and Saalfelden.

The path runs along the mountain range that separates the Glemmtal the south by Leoganger valley in the north.

From the Asitzhütte at the mountain station of Asitzbahn (1752 m ) in the south of Leogang runs the marked trail southwest to 1914 m high Asitzkopf. It then runs through the 1888 meter high Schaberg Kogel and the 1,853 m Geierkogel east to 1875 m high mountain Haider Kogel. About the 1764 m high flow head, the 1616 m high Weikersbacherköpfl, the 1541 m high Weikersbacher head and Biberg he continues to the mountain station Huggenbergalm above Saalfelden. From here the descent by cable car or a summer toboggan run is possible.

A variant of the trail starts at the summit station of the Kohlmaisbahn on Kohlmaiskopf (1794 m) above Saalbach and performs on the 1910 m high Wildenkarkogel to Asitzkopf. This variant takes about an hour longer to complete.
