Glemmtal

The Glemmtal in the Austrian province of Salzburg is the 30 km long upper reaches of the Saalachstrasse dar. It belongs to the northern Pinzgau and separates the Kitzbühel Alps in east-west direction. Its main town is Saalbach, Zell am See.

The top 10 km of the valley are drained by Saalbach, whose greatest source Schwarzbach river rises in about 1800 m above sea level between Geißstein, Tristkogel and Spieleck Kogel. After combining with some streams and the wild waters of the Voglalpgrabens it flows through several summer and winter routes up north to Saalachtaler Trail and south lead to the Pinzgauer mountain trail as Saalbach Hinterglemm by ( Hinterglemmtal ) from where. At the mouth of the trench Schwarzach are some scattered settlements and the southern valley floor Karl -Renner- house of nature lovers.

A few kilometers down the valley the valley widens and you reach the famous ski resort Saalbach -Hinterglemm and the resort Saalbach, from where is called the Saalbach, Saalachstrasse ' and the valley Vorderglemmtal. This flows from the north to the Spielberg Bach and also several summer mountain trails take their starting, inter alia, on the Shatt mountain. Now the valley is 15 km relatively straight east.

In Maishofen north of Lake Zell, the valley ends, the Saalachstrasse bends around to the north, the Talung extended to several kilometers in width and then forms the Saalfelden basin around the town of Saalfelden.
