The Río Sacambaya is a section of the upper reaches of the River Cotacajes and flows along the eastern slopes of the Andean Cordillera in the South American country of Bolivia.

The Río Sacambaya forms the eastern edge of the Cordillera Quimsa Cruz from the union of the Río Ayopaya with the Río Ichoca - Colquiri at an altitude of 1734 m. The river flows from its origin in a northeasterly direction and forms after 37 kilometers, together with the leading- right of Río Negro then the Río Cotacajes. On the entire route of the Río Sacambaya forms the border between the Cochabamba Department and the Department of La Paz

The northeast subsequent Río Cotacajes united by a further 125 kilometers to the Río Santa Elena and takes you downstream the name Río Alto Beni.
