Sacca Fisola

The Sacca Fisola is a body set up by landfills artificial island in the lagoon of Venice.

It belongs to the district of Dorsoduro in Venice and is used as a residential area. Sacca Fisola lies between the island of Giudecca and the island of Sacca San Biagio, which serves as the site of an incineration plant for municipal waste.

The 18 -acre island has 1,480 inhabitants ( as at 29 August 2009). At the 2001 census the artificial island was not inhabited.

On the island there is the new San Gerardo Segredo church. A footbridge leads to the west over the 50 to 70 meters wide and 330 meters long Canale dei Lavraneri for Campiello Friuli Island (group) Giudecca.
