Sachal Vasandani

Sachal Vasandani (born 1978 in Chicago) is an American jazz singer.

Vasandani studied at the University of Michigan and then moved to New York City. He sang with the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis and published in 2007 his debut album, Eyes Wide Open ( Mack Avenue Records), the 2009 and 2011 We Move Hi-Fly followed (all at Mack Avenue ), produced by John Clayton. On Hi-Fly he sings some with Jon Hendricks and is represented by its own songs.

Vasandani 's second album was praised by critics, for example, in the New York Times and led to tours in the U.S. and Europe ( including Switzerland, Germany and Russia), 2009.

In 2010 he won the Down Beat Kritikerpoll in the Rising Star category as a singer.
