Sacred Heart Cathedral, Sarajevo

The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart ( bosn. Katedrala srcA Isusova ) is a Roman Catholic bishop's church in the district of Stari Grad Bosnian capital Sarajevo. It was built in 1884-1889 according to the plans of the Croatian architect Josip Vancaš for the newly founded Archdiocese of Sarajevo. The Sacred Heart Cathedral is a neo-Gothic basilica with a semicircular closing chorus in the north and a twin-towered facade portal with rose window in the south. The interior, with white marble sculptures and figurines rich stained glass windows is preserved in its original state.

A comprehensive restoration of the Cathedral, made ​​possible by the use of the Aachen pastor Heribert August, was completed in 2013.
