Saddle blanket

A saddle blanket protects the horse and the saddle.

For the horse saddle blanket created by the additional padding that can compensate for small imperfect fit of the saddle, but this is a much worse alternative to a perfectly fitting saddle. The main purpose of the saddle cloth is to protect the saddle from dust and dirt from the coat of the horse, and against the ( albeit small) friction of the horse's skin. To ensure the air circulation under the saddle and build any pressure on the spine, they must be chambered in the saddle, they do not touch the spine.

There are different forms of the saddle cloth that align strongly to their main purpose. In equestrian sports a breathable and schweißaufsaugende ceiling is preferred, on the one hand as possible to avoid excessive sweating of the horse under saddle and on the other hand to protect the saddle from the horse's sweat. These saddle pads have to prevent typically the same shape as the saddle to ensure maximum fit and pressure points through the ceiling itself.

In Western Riding a so-called Westernpad is in accordance with the preferred saddle that covers a larger area of the back and a stronger cushioning provides, as usual in the classical riding saddle blankets. The background is that the Riding is borrowed from the work with the horse and the horse should therefore run all day under such a saddle, which presupposes a particularly good protection of the back.

In the hiking horse riding and formerly also in the army of Woilach was often used, a multi-fold rug, which can be widely used.

Valances today for festive performances and also for trail riding also popular.
