Sagar (Hindi: सागर, Sāgar; Urdu: ساگر ) is a city in the state of Madhya Pradesh in India. The city has around 273,000 inhabitants ( 2011 census ) and is the administrative seat of the district of Sagar. The city is also called the heart of Madhya Pradesh.
Geography
Sagar is located on a spur of Vindhyagebirge ( Deccan ) to 536 m above sea level. It is located on an artificial lake and is also called the city of lakes.

Economy and infrastructure
Sagar is an important trading center. In addition to the wood processing industry settle here because of the great transport connections by Indian Railways and highways numerous farms. The nearest airport is at Bhopal.
