SAI KZ II

In the Sport Aircraft SAI KZ II is a two-seat, single-engine low-wing Danish manufacturer Skandinavisk Aero Industri. The first flight took place on 11 December 1937. The machine has a partially clad, fixed gear with spur.

There are three variants of this series:

KZ II Kupé

This two-seater sports machine had a hull made ​​of steel tubes, which was covered with plywood and fabric. The wing was made ​​of wood and also covered with plywood and fabric. A total of 14 pieces in the years 1937 to 1940 were produced. For a better transport and reduce footprint, the wings could be folded against the fuselage. The two seats were next to each other in the body in a closed cockpit.

From this type of three machines have been preserved. One of them is ready to fly in Dansk Veteranflysamling, Skjern, Denmark.

KZ II Sport

The sports version of the KZ II differs from the Kupé mainly through its open cockpit with the rear side seats. The lower end face allows together with the more powerful engine, a better performance. The first flight of this variant was held on 10 October 1938. From this type of a total of 16 aircraft were built. There were, however, confiscated by the German occupiers all machines.

KZ II Træner

The coach is a stronger version of the KZ II Sport. After the Second World War, the Danish Air Force needed quickly trained pilots, and so a number of this type was obtained. The first flight of the prototype took place in April 1946. It 15 machines were ordered, which were used as early as the fall of 1946 for pilot training. The machines remained until 1955 in service. The aircraft still flying clear nine aircraft were subsequently sold to private.
