Said Awad

Said A. Awad was a professor and researcher for the Department of Urology in the fields of neuro- urology, urodynamics and urinary incontinence.

Life and career

A native of Cairo Awad studied at Cairo University Medicine and completed his studies with a doctorate in 1959 from.

In 1973, he began his career in the Department of Urology, Queen's University, Kingston ( Ontario). There he built on the field of neuro- urology and stood before the first laboratory for urodynamics, which was built in the region.

In 1980, he moved to Dalhousie University, where he headed the Department of Urology until 1997.

The focus of his research on the areas of neuro- urology, urodynamics and urinary incontinence. He is a member of the International Society Contienance that encourages scientists working in the field of urinary incontinence. 1991 to 1992 he was president of the Northeastern Section Research and Education Fund of the American Urological Association.

Awad was given emeritus status on 31 July 2003 and has since lived with his wife in Halifax ( Nova Scotia ).
