Saigon Kick

Saigon Kick was an American hard rock band from Miami.

History

Since 1984, the singer Matt Kramer and guitarist Jason Bieler play together. After four years later bassist Tom Defile, and drummer Phil Varone who joined the duo, the band Saigon Kick founded. The band's name comes from a friend of the musician, who missed negatively about the numerous feature films about the Vietnam War. Saigon was the capital of South Vietnam, and was renamed in April 1975 in Ho Chi Minh City.

Saigon Kick played countless concerts as the opening act of well-known bands. At a concert as the opening act of Skid Row a roadie of the main band fell on the talent of Saigon Kick and he informed the A & R man Jason Flom. This took Saigon Kick for Third Stone Records, the record label of actor Michael Douglas, under contract. With producer Michael Wagener, the band recorded the self-titled debut album, which was released in 1991. In a prepared by the German magazine Rock Hard list of the 500 best albums of all time occupied Saigon Kick place 102

The band toured North America with Faith No More and Skid Row and in Europe with Extreme. During another North American tour supporting King's X, there were disputes between Jason Bieler and the King's X - manager because Bieler complained about the short running time of 20 minutes. As a consequence had to Saigon Kick leave the tour. Then the band began work on their second album, The Lizard. As producer Michael Wagener desire was just with Warrant in the studio, Jason Bieler took over the production itself The Lizard reached number 80 of the U.S. album charts, while the single reached Love Is on the Way even number 12 in the U.S. singles chart. Both the album and the single were awarded in the United States with a gold record.

Shortly after the album release had bassist Tom Defile left the band and was replaced by Chris McLrnon. In 1994, the band began to record their third studio album Water. Matt Kramer got out due to musical differences, so that Jason Bieler now took over the entire song. Due to the poor sales of her record company terminated the contract. According to Jason Bieler put the band due to their stylistic diversity in a dilemma because " the metal bands hated us because we were too alternative and the alternative bands hated us because we were too metal".

In 1995 the fourth studio album Devil appeared in the details before three years later, the best-of album Greatest Mrs.: The Best of Saigon Kick as well as the demo compilation Moments from the Fringe appeared. 1999 appeared the last studio album Bastards, is to listen to the song to a new drummer Rick Sanders. The album was released only in East Asia. In 2000, the band broke up. In the following years, two live albums have been posted yet.

Jason Bieler formed along with bassist Pat Badger Extreme - band Super Transatlantic, which contributed a song for the soundtrack of the film American Pie. Phil Varone played between 2000 and 2004 for the band Skid Row.
