Saint-Georges-du-Mesnil

Saint -Georges- du- Mesnil is a rural French village with 117 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Eure in the Haute-Normandie region. It belongs to the canton of Saint -Georges- du- Vièvre and the Local Government Association Vièvre - Lieuvin.

Geography

Saint -Georges- du- Mesnil is located in the southeast corner of the landscape Lieuvin, 43 kilometers southeast of Le Havre, 24 kilometers northeast of Lisieux, about 15 kilometers north of Bernay, the capital of the eponymous arrondissement. Neighboring municipalities of Saint -Georges- du- Mesnil are Noards in the West, Saint -Jean -de- la- Léqueraye in the north, to the southeast and Giverville Épreville -en- Lieuvin in the southwest. History

The fief or the Seigneurie Mesnil and a Seigneur named Richard du Mesnil 1199 were first mentioned. The family remained until the 14th century belonged to the Seigneurie. In the 14th century Mesnil was under the Seigneur of La Poterie -Mathieu.
