Saint-Julien-de-Coppel

Saint -Julien -de- Coppel is a commune in the Puy -de- Dôme in the Auvergne region. It is located in the arrondissement of Clermont -Ferrand and in Canton Canton Billom.

General

The municipality is situated approximately 30 kilometers southeast of Clermont -Ferrand and comprises 21.54 square kilometers to 38 smaller and two larger places (St- Julien and Contournat in the northwest of St- Julien ) 1154 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011). The municipal area is predominantly on 400 to 500 m above sea level, rising only in the south of the Puy Pendu, the Puy Gérard and the Puy de Baine to over 700 m. Since 2002, the community is one of the 16 municipalities of the " Communauté de communes de Billom / Saint Dier ".

• Notre Dame de Roche, Romanesque, originally the St. Sebastian chapel dedicated to the dialed castle of Roche, on a hill 580 m above sea level in the south-east of St- Julien commune in part Roche. The single- room opens under a brick arch in the east to absidenförmigen choir with two niches and a round-arched window in the southeast. On the inner back wall of stone votive tablets and a commemorative plaque to fallen of the First World War are attached. The roof is only partially provided with the original cover of stone plates; in the arcuate brick bell tower a bell is housed in an open bow. Every year in May, up over a crossroads for the area at the chapel on a pilgrimage place; venerated the Virgin Mary, which is shown on the rock above the chapel with a larger than life statue of 1862, whose high round base can be climbed with a small observation deck on a spiral staircase. The original Madonna of the chapel, a wooden, such as colored sculpture from the 15th century, now stands in the church of Saint -Julien -de- Coppel.

Community partnership

• Since 2004, a community partnership with Frisingen ( Luxembourg ).
