Saint Lycerius

Lizier of couserans, lat Glycerius or Licerius, other Romance forms of the name Lézer, LISER, Licerio, Lliceri (* in the 5th century on the Iberian Peninsula; ? † 548) was Bishop of couserans. He is venerated as a saint. Saint Lizier is patron of the city and the Cathedral of Saint- Lizier, where his grave is revered, and other places in Southern France and Catalonia.

The list of bishops of Gallia Christiana couserans called second Glycerius, sixth Licerius. The church historian Louis Duchesne suggested in both the same person. Glycerius is attested as a participant in the Synod of Agde 506 It is considered as disciple of St. Faustus of Riez. St. Liziers prayer should have kept his episcopal city from an invasion by the Visigoths.
