Saint-Pierre-du-Lorouër

Saint -Pierre- du- Lorouër is a small commune in the department of Sarthe, Arrondissement Le Mans. It belongs to the canton of Le Grand- Lucé, located between the towns Le Mans (37 km) and Tours ( 52 km) and is nine kilometers from Le Grand- Lucé away. In the southwest of the 55 km ² Forêt de Bercé borders the municipality.

Saint -Pierre- du- Lorouër suffered heavily from the rural exodus. The village had 496 inhabitants in 1962 yet, so there were in 1990 only 301 Since then, the population has increased slightly again and is located at 376 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011).

The church of Saint -Pierre- du- Lorouër probably comes originally from the 11th or 12th century and has been structurally altered to the 16th century. Remarkably, the wall paintings are from the 13th century ( The Burial of Renaud ).

Mayor Didier Vérité. His mandate lasts from 2008 to 2014. He replaced Philippe Papin from, who ran previously for the green party Les Verts, but no party was later ( divers gauche ).
