Saint-Yrieix-sur-Charente

Saint- Yrieix -sur -Charente is a commune with 7064 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Charente in the Poitou -Charentes. It belongs administratively to the district Angoulême and the Canton Canton Gond- Pontouvre and is a member of the Association of Municipalities Communauté d' agglomération du Grand Angoulême. Residents Arédiens or Arédiennes call themselves.

Geography

The municipality is located in the metropolitan area north-west of Angoulême and is about four kilometers from the center. It is bordered to the north by Balzac, on the east by Gond- Pontouvre, on the west by Fléac and to the northwest by Vindelle. Saint- Yrieix -sur -Charente is located in a loop of the river on the right bank of the Charente River, which forms the municipal boundary to the north, east and south. In the east of the municipality is on a river, the leisure center " Grande Prairie " with a lake.

The municipality is cut from the transport belts of the National Roads N10 and N1141.
