Sally Carr

Sally Carr ( born March 28, 1945) is a Scottish singer. She is best known as the lead singer of the pop band Middle of the Road mid-1970s.

Life

Carr was one of five children, she has four brothers. Her father was a miner. Her mother Cecilia was ill bedridden. The family gathered frequently to play music together. Nevertheless, Carr had no professional vocal training. In 1978 she married the journalist Chick Young. They had a son, who, however, in January 2001, was killed in a motorcycle accident.

Music

The first band of Carr was The Southeners. In 1971, the group Middle of the Road was established and Carr had success with songs such as " Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep " and "Sacramento". As a result of her mother's death, she found it hard to the line "Where 's your mama gone? " and " Woke up this morning and my mama was gone " to sing from the song lyrics.
