Saloum Delta National Park

Delta du Saloum National Park ( Parc National du Delta du French Saloum, Sine Saloum National Park often ) is located on the Atlantic coast of Senegal within the deltas of the rivers Saloum and Sine. Its area is 76,000 hectares.

History

The Natoionalpark was founded in 1976, comprises one of the most important mangrove forests in West Africa and is since 1980 a Biosphere Reserve and Ramsar site. Since 2011 he is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Fauna

The wildlife in the National Park Delta du Saloum includes, among other wild mammals such as primates and West African patas monkey Colobus, marine mammals such as dolphins and manatees, antelope such as duiker and bushbuck and warthog and hyena.
