Salvador Sánchez

Salvador Sánchez Santiago ( born January 26, 1959 in Santiago Tianguistenco, Mexico, † 12 August 1982) was a Mexican Featherweight boxer.

Sánchez 1975 pro. He boxed at first bantamweight, where he suffered his only defeat in 1977 in the battle for the Mexican championship.

In 1978, he was at a draw at the bottom, the only precipitate his career. But Sánchez was fairly good overall as lessee ( many successes in title bouts against puncher ). He was more of a technician than a puncher, normal boom, had a very professional professional approach and excellent fitness.

In 1980 he won against the famous puncher Danny "little red" Lopez for the WBC featherweight title. In a defense against Juan La Porte he had far fewer problems than his compatriot Julio César Chávez.

But his most famous battle was the KO against undefeated Puerto Rican Wilfredo Gómez archrival.

He died at the age of 23 in a traffic accident.

1991 was Sánchez induction into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
