Salzburg Research

The Salzburg Research mbH ( SRFG ) is the non-university, non-profit research organization of the State of Salzburg. It conducts applied research and development in the information and communication technologies ( ICT) and new media.

History

1996 emerged the professional higher education study programs and the Institute for Information Economy and New Media Techno -Z Research and Development GmbH from the synergy of the Telecom Research Center. Even then, the research topics related to information and communication technologies were wide interdisciplinary and wide: technological research and development activities on the basis of the Internet ( Telecommunications, Quality of Service, test and measurement, protocols and algorithms) as well as in the content area (content engineering, workflow optimization, middleware, e -commerce, hypermedia and Knowledge Management ), accompanied by social science research to transform the information and knowledge society.

On 19 January 2000, the Province of Salzburg was the sole owner of the Research Society. Since this year the country nunmehrige research company's name Salzburg Research. In 2010, the Society of her 10 th anniversary as a national research society.

The research lines of the Salzburg Research concentrate their topics on the Future Internet:

  • ANC - Advanced Networking Center: (networks )
  • Mowi - Mobile and Web -Based Information Technologies (Location Based Services)
  • CLL - Computational Lab Logistics (transport optimization)
  • KMT - Knowledge and Media Technologies ( Semantic Web technology )
  • ILab - Innovation Lab (Innovation processes)

The research society in numerous research projects at EU level involved, for example:

  • In IDIRA example, a system of technologies and guidelines for optimal resource planning and implementation of international disaster relief is developed;
  • ICS developed an open source technology platform for knowledge management, extends the reach of semantic CMS technology and serves as co-operation and software development hub for the semantic CMS community;
  • In iCardea an intelligent platform for the monitoring of patients with cardiac implants produced.

Among the more prominent developments at national and regional levels are about the mobile phone application Peak.NPHT, an app for the National Park Hohe Tauern, and every mountain pops up the name and the peak height, as well as the huts, or the accessibility check for businesses of Salzburg, to the implementation of the country's Policies & accessibility in Tourismus-/Sport-/Freizeitsektor to promote and support the workshop for robot programming for school groups at the State Museum Museum of Natural History.

Salzburg Research coordinates ( e) In addition, the competence centers Salzburg NewMediaLab ( SNML ) ( 2000-2013 ) in the subject field of new media and ANET (2006-2009) and e-motion (2009-2011) in e- tourism.
