Salzspeicher

The salt storage are a group of warehouses at the upper Trave in Lübeck next to the Holsten. They were built in the style of the brick Renaissance and Baroque brick.

History and historical significance

Were built in the salt storage 1579-1745. A relief of clinker on the facade of the Holsten located next memory points out that this was still standing until 1839 owned by the Saline Oldesloe. The storage building originally served the storage of from Lüneburg on the Old Salt Road and later on the Stecknitz channel -induced salt and obtained from the Saline Oldesloe and that is brought by barge on the River Trave salt, which run from Lübeck as the basis of his former wealth to the whole of Scandinavia been. Later used

The Lübeck salt warehouses were filming location for the movie Nosferatu - A Symphony of Horror by Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau and served as the backdrop for the house that rented the vampire.

Today the building is used by a textile store.
