Sam Smith (singer)
Sam Smith ( born May 19, 1992) is an English singer and songwriter.
Biography
Samuel Frederick Smith comes from Great Chishill in Cambridgeshire. His mother was successful in the financial industry and his father, who had a penchant for soul music, taking care of the children. Even as a child he was given singing lessons with the jazz singer and pianist Joanna Eden - with which he also appeared as background singer. From the age of twelve years trying different managers to get a music career going. He sang four years in a musical theater in the choir. At 14, he won South Coast Idol, a regional competition. At 16 he wrote his first song. It was only when he was already an adult and went to London, he finally found the management team, which tied the right connections for him. He worked with producer and songwriter Jimmy Napes and in 2012 had as a singer for the Danceduo Disclosure on the song Latch his first successful publication. For Disclosure, the song was the breakthrough for Smith it came a year later to collaborate with producer Naughty Boy. He contributed to the distinctive vocal part for the song La La La, which became a number -one hit in the UK charts and beyond in Europe reached high in the charts. At the BRIT Awards, he was one of the candidates for the song of the year.
His first publication, the single Lay Me Down was, still remained unnoticed in February 2013 before the success of La La La, was released in the fall then the EP Nirvana. With two songs from it, he just missed the Top 75 in the UK charts. At the end, he was then nominated in the category Critics' Choice at the BRIT Awards and the BBC Sound of 2014 Voting for Most Promising Newcomer and won both awards. His second solo single Money on My Mind was released in February 2014 and debuted at number one in the British charts. In many other countries, it reached the Top 20
